Babytank - AR pregnancy experience mobile application

About Babytank

Mobile app design for an AR pregnancy experience, where a parent sees their baby at its real size for the current week - placed anywhere in their room, or inside their own belly through a mirror.

Challenge

Holding an ethereal look together with a sharp, instruction-led interface, since AR needs the most precise guidance at exactly the moments the mood is most fragile.

Surface detection, person detection and placement all have states a user has to be walked through in a single line, without the app turning technical.

In your belly asks something physically awkward: standing at a mirror, or handing the phone to someone else, and has to make that feel natural.

And everything touching the pregnancy itself, from the baby's sex to a nickname, has to stay optional and never presumptuous.

Approach

Designing the interface around the baby: soft gradients, glass surfaces and a muted palette that never competes with the AR render.

Building onboarding as short, fully skippable steps like pregnancy date, skin tone, nickname - each marked optional and changeable later, so nothing is demanded before the first look.

Splitting AR into two named modes, In your world and In your belly, each with its own guided sequence: surface or person found, placement, walking and pinching to explore, then capture to photo or video with save, share or retake.

Keeping guidance to one numbered line at the moment it is needed, over the camera, rather than a tutorial up front.

Making the home screen a single glance: current week, progress, the day's tip in plain language, and both AR modes one tap away.

Stating data privacy where it carries weight: in onboarding, on the closing card, and in Settings with one control to delete everything stored.

A parent meets their baby at its real size within a few taps of opening the app, captures the moment and shares it without being taught how, and everything the app knows stays on their phone.
